alone except for a dog and two neon budgies,
one named baby toes two.
I got up, turned off the radio
that never plays songs I recognize.
and yet, as I sat back down,
I noticed that a classical song was now
stuck in my head, I hummed along.
it was a sweet kind of confusion, no words for me
to belt out, seeing as no one would hear them.
but as it ribboned through my thoughts,
the colors of the different notes made me
love the absence of distractions that lyrics bring
and instead, it was just
purples, blues, reds,
